Often I have a pre-visualized idea of the image I'm trying to create, but I leave myself open to capture what comes, since the beauty of the Montana landscape and it's wildlife often reveals itself spontaneously. I use my instincts to capture the moment. I suspect that being in this purely observant state is why photography brings me such pleasure.
However, it is during the processing stage that my art truly emerges. It is the combination of the original photo and my post-processing techniques that allows my thoughts, emotions and memories to come out and play. My creativity is ignited and I become part of the work.
Tammy Andie is a 4th generation Montanan and much of her fine art work is influenced by her ranching heritage. She photographs things that catch her eye, then uses the digital darkroom to bring out their essence as she sees it.
Tammy is based in Missoula MT and specializes in portraiture photography of all types including people, animals and nature. She owned and operated her own photography studio and graduated from the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in 2012.
She has worked professionally in several styles of photography including architectural, headshot, nature, lifestyle and fashion, as well as the fine art she presents here today. She hopes to convey a sense of spaciousness and peacefulness in her work.
