Originally from Ontario, Canada, Pete Davies has spent a large portion of his life exploring the cities and wilds of the Southern and Northwestern United States. His storied life has included working with Arthur Miller, leaving his mark as an artist and on the communities and coastlines of California, as well as becoming a staple of Missoula's art scene for many years. Some say you're not truly a Missoulian until you've purchased a piece of Pete Davies' art, probably on the street, possibly outside your favorite bar just after last call.
The constant in Pete's journey has been his art which has paved his way financially and spiritually throughout his long life of adventure. His inspiration lies in nature, and in interwoven complexities of biology and geology into elegant simplicity; expressing the great artists, Pete is driven by difficult but direct motivation that he "can do something that most people can't".
Residing in Missoula, Montana for the past 20 years, Pete Davies has become somewhat of a local legend. His intricate line drawings adorn countless walls and his name is familiar to move people's ears.
The current craze for adult coloring books seems custom-made to showcase and spread Pete's unique talents, and this book is not only a brilliant idea, but is also the ultimate collection of the beautiful and whimsical works created by Pete Davies through a long and storied career. It is timeless.
Beyond sharing his work openly and on the fly, he has exhibited his work in various venues, including The Dana Gallery, located in downtown Missoula.
When asked what his advice would be to upcoming artists of the world he said, "Practice, and do as much as you can".
