As a mark maker, I interpret, edit, and illustrate that which arouses my sensitivity toward and curiosity in our natural world. I abstract discreet elements of nature, from the land, sea, and sky. I produce careful, intricate, and evocative layers of my content, in drawings, paintings, and collage.
My work allows me to stretch my creativity in mark making and provides me with quiet spaces in which to meditate. My hope is that my marks also lead to something beyond and greater than ourselves, by inviting viewers to contemplate our changing global climate and the protection of our environment.
The tree bark prints offered here come from my original ink and acrylic drawings, many of which were included in my Field Notes exhibitions in Missoula, Montana (2016); Sheridan, Wyoming (2017); and Portland, Oregon (2018). The drawings are a study in the distinct characteristics of tree bark. When viewed from a distance, one may recognize these characteristics. However, on close inspection, micro worlds within the bark come to life in natural and universal patterns and design.
All images are available, signed and numbered, in limited edition prints on fine art paper.
